Two Things I'm Trying this Weekend

71-year-old Fort Worth man cited for doing yardwork in the buff

FORT WORTH — Add this to the list of things that should never be done in the nude.
A 71-year-old man was cited for disorderly conduct Sunday after he was spotted trimming his back yard in the buff.
A Fort Worth deputy city marshal discovered the man’s unconventional approach to yardwork Sunday afternoon while on bike patrol near Lake Worth. According to a Fort Worth police report, the man was naked except for shoes.
Upon seeing the deputy approaching, the man dropped the weed trimmer and ran inside his home. After repeated requests by the deputy, he emerged again, wearing shorts.
The man told the deputy that he’d worked in the nude in his back yard before and believed that it was private enough to shield him from others’ view. Police said parts of the chain-link fence do not have privacy slats.
The deputy also pointed out to the man that he lives across the street from a park and along a heavily traveled road. After checking his record to ensure that he is not a sex offender, the deputy issued the man the Class C misdemeanor citation.

Not so much a weed trimmer, more so a weed 'wacker' Rock me!!!

Naked man riding motorcycle charged with DUI

OCALA, Fla. — Authorities say a Florida man was charged with driving under the influence after he was spotted riding his motorcycle naked. The Marion County deputy was driving on Interstate 75 early Tuesday when he spotted what appeared to be a naked man on a motorcycle. The deputy caught up with 45-year-old J. Dante Krauss at a red light and stopped him.
Capt. Mike Rolls said Krauss could not explain where he was coming from or why he was naked. Rolls said the deputy asked him if he had been drinking, and he answered that he had. Breathalyzer tests revealed blood alcohol levels above .08, the state's legal limit to drive.
Krauss was charged with what Rolls said turned out to be his fifth DUI. Jail records showed he was later released on $20,000 bail. They did not list an attorney and his phone number was not listed.

Wonder if it was a 'Crotch-Rocket'. Rock me!!!

Jeers: To the petty thieves who stole a couple hundred old golf balls and the holder I made for them from beside my workshop. Jeers also to the neighbors of whoever recently set up a wire golf-ball holder supported by a black plastic table saw cabinet.
— Jap, Alvarado

I really don't know what you're talking about here with your golf balls and holders, but your name is very offensive.

Jeers: To the Star-Telegram’s sports department for not including Lake Worth’s football stats. I’ve had to listen to my husband complain about it every day.
— Minnie, Fort Worth

Seriously? Lake Worth? Do that even field a team? Watch out for the Lake Worth Monster. It'll get ya.

Jeers: To Arlington National Cemetery for allowing Ted Kennedy’s burial where so many have honorably served and died for their country. The only service Kennedy ever performed was for himself. What a disgrace!
— James, Grapevine

Wow!

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Yeah...I used the 'Something called and wanted their something back' joke twice in one post. Get over it!

Jeers: To anyone using the term "Nazi" to refer to federal healthcare reform. Trivializing such a horrendous chapter in history is insensitive and unconscionable. It is an insult to those who were directly affected by the Holocaust, living or dead. Stop listening to Rush and think for yourselves.
— Holly, Burleson

For once I actually agree with a ‘Jeers’ author. Anytime someone brings in Hitler, Nazis, or the Holocaust you’re voiding your argument completely. It’s immature, irresponsible, and asinine. When you get to the point where you’re using those references to defend your point, you truly have nothing. It’s a cop out, it’s easy, and it shows your utter lack of intelligence.

Jeers: To city code compliance departments that focus on residents’ properties to measure grass and fence heights or pink flamingos instead of commercial awnings that are dilapidated and old or houses that have tent "compounds" in their back yards that may have imprisoned victims of child molesters or sociopaths.
— Irma, Fort Worth

First of all Irma, 1927 called, they want their name back. Secondly, the JOB of the code compliance officers is to do just that. Measure lawns that look to be over grown, insure fences and homes are within city regulations, and cite those individuals who are not in compliance. And really, you’re going to reduce the California case to make a point? C’mon! Tent compounds? Really? Just because someone has tarps and tents in their backyard doesn’t mean they’re hiding people for their own pleasures. They’re probably just growing weed, cooking meth, or building a body suit out of flesh they dig up from graves. Geez, get a life.

Jeers: To the animal hospital that incorrectly diagnosed our cat and cost my family financially and emotionally. If the practice would have spent as much time actually observing the cat as it did trying to sell us products, perhaps it would have saved us both stress and money!
— Tara, Roanoke

Oh dear Tara. I feel your pain, most likely because I know who you’re talking about. You’re right. Your pet was probably put into a kennel, checked on every other hour or so, given some antibiotics, fluids, and a heating pad, all the while the nurses and doctors tried to figure out how to get you to sign up or purchase an awesome preventive care package that wouldn’t even apply to your pet’s current needs. Ummm, avoid that place in the future.

Jeers: To Arlington, Haltom City and other taxing entities that plan to spend millions to quiet train whistles at some railroad crossings. Haltom City located a library next to a crossing and placed "Quiet Please" signs inside. That should do it. Or maybe ban boomboxes in library zones the way they did cellphones in school zones. Are we Americans hard of hearing?
— Jack, Haltom City

Seriously, who uses the word ‘boom boxes’ anymore. “Ring ring. Ring ring. Hello. Hi there. This is 1982 calling, we’d like our term back. Thanks.”

Jeers: To Deborah Harsh for cheering Obama’s healthcare on Aug. 22. Read the bill and educate yourself. Medicare, the Postal Service and veterans’ benefits are just a few government-run agencies that are in trouble. Do you really want the government to run our healthcare?
— Ann, Fort Worth

Dear Ann,
Have you read the entire bill? You do realize that it’s over 1030 pages of legal jargon that would take several lawyers to decipher and translate for the typical layman. Do you not realize that 95% of all bills submitted for voting are never read through by the majority of both the House and Congress? Bills are posted at 12:01 AM in some cases and our voted on less than a day later. Bills that are 1000’s of pages long and would require reading 100’s of pages per hour just to get though. It’s time to let go of the ‘Read the Bill’ chant…

I can't keep doing this format....Can !?

I am not concerned that President Obama will interject any controversial topics into his speech to schoolchildren on Tuesday. He’s way too smart to do something like that.
My concern has nothing to do with his personal politics. I simply don’t believe it is appropriate for the government, or the president, to tell our children what to think, what to do and how to act.
There is a growing dependence on government to take care of us and tell us how to run our lives. That’s not a good thing.
Regardless of intentions, having Big Brother talk directly to our children and establish himself as their authority figure sounds a bit sinister to me. There is good reason to worry about this, and we shouldn’t have to accept it.
— James, Arlington

“Regardless of his intention” Hummm… You mean the intentions he has to encourage America’s children to stay in school, respect their teachers, take education seriously, and to take responsibility for their own education? Those intentions? Good lord. What has this country come to? How dare the President of the United States encourage children to get educated? What could he possibly be thinking? I mean we all know, if he wouldn’t do all of this encouraging we could have a nation of uneducated citizens who wouldn’t have any choice but to depend on the government. I mean, it would seem as though it’s against is Socialist interest to give this talk to the kids in school. Look at all the voters he’s going to miss out on. Silly President… Educated children are for Democracy, not Socialism.

And the real ironies of the situation are these. A. Students are being pulled out of school so that they can’t be encouraged to stay in school. B. Think about it, children are the most Socialist people in the country. They depend on the more fortunate people in the home for food, shelter, healthcare, education, money… Need I say more?

Jeers: To the city of Burleson for charging $75 for not making a complete stop at a red light before making a right turn, ripping people off for this trivial violation. No one is concerned with speeding violators zooming down Interstate 35W at 90-plus miles an hour! I’ve never seen one Burleson police car patrolling the interstate during the 34 years I’ve lived here!
— Joseph F., Burleson

Uh oh…Looks like Joseph got caught. Giggle. Joseph, it’s very simple… Not coming to a complete stop before making a right turn on a red light is a violation of city and state motor vehicle laws. Technology has come a long way and we now have an economical and effective way of monitoring those intersections in which multiple accidents have occurred due to running red lights. The studies have been done and this fact is proven. Not only do these cameras help protect drivers from inconsiderate idiots who think traffic violations shouldn’t apply to them, it frees up police officers in the city to help patrol schools, businesses, and your neighborhoods to help prevent more serious crimes. Yes, not stopping at a red light is minor, but the officer who would usually sit there and monitor the intersection for idiots like you is now doing patrols around your children’s and grandchildren’s schools so that they aren’t abducted and murdered. Here’s the deal Joseph, if you don’t want to pay out $75 dollars then take the 3 seconds required to be considered a complete stop at the red light and then make your turn. As for the officers not patrolling I-35 in Burleson, shut up ya jack ass! I speed through there all the time.

Jeers: To the stupid people who decided I had to convert to digital TV. I was out about $500, and I still don’t have the good service I had with my old TV stations.
— Ruth, Joshua
Hey Ruth…Ya ever think that the problem might not be your tv or the conversion, but more so the fact that you live in the effing sticks?

Jeers: To those who voted for the current administration. We have higher taxes; lower-paying jobs, if any; lower pensions, if any; smaller Social Security checks upon retirement; and no cost-of-living adjustments for Social Security in 2010 and 2011 to look forward to.
— Delores, Fort Worth

And I counter. Jeers to those who voted for the previous administration for getting us into the mess we’re in now. Delores, you’re a dill.

A 'Stupid' Law, Death threat, and Obama's going to make our kids Socialist, Oh my

Montana officer resigns over Facebook comments

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - A Montana police officer who wrote on his Facebook page that there should be a law allowing police to take people to jail for being "stupid" has resigned.
Bozeman City Manager Chris Kukulski says Cody Anderson submitted his resignation Wednesday.
He says Anderson related that his resignation was in the best interest of the police department. Anderson apologized for his online comment last month, saying it didn't "reflect an attitude or atmosphere within the Bozeman police department."
His posting came to light last month when a Bozeman man filed a lawsuit against the city, Anderson and other officers, saying his civil and constitutional rights were violated when he was wrongly arrested.
The lawsuit alleges entries from Anderson's Facebook profile indicate he has a lack of respect for citizens' rights and a willingness to abuse his position of authority.

Well if he said that there should be a law allowing police to take stupid people to jail, he should turn himself in as well. Hey, Dill! It’s called a privacy setting. Don’t let people you don’t know view your page.
NC man sentenced for threatening to kill president

STONEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man has pleaded guilty to saying he was going to assassinate President Barack Obama.
The Rockingham County sheriff's office says Steve Lee Stone pleaded to charges Wednesday of communicating threats, resisting a public officer and misusing the 911 system. He was sentenced to two 45-day jail terms, which were suspended, and 18 months probation.
Police say the 44-year-old man called a 911 dispatcher twice from his trailer about five miles south of the Virginia border in late July and said he was going to assassinate the president. He did not identify himself.
Sheriff's deputies and a Secret Service agent investigated the caller's identity. Stone was interviewed by deputies at his trailer in Stoneville.
Deputies say Stone became combative during the interview and they were forced to use a stun gun and arrest him.

Awesome! I man that makes a death threat to the president and resists arrest get probation…Because we want him out on the street. “No officer. I promise I won’t try to kill the president. Nope. Not me. I’ve learned my lesson.”

Obama’s school speech
I find it appalling that President Barack Obama is bringing politics into the classroom. I realize his Sept. 8 speech will be generic; after all he must remain "innocent." What worries me is the discussion that will take place in classrooms after the speech.
We all know Obama has called out his radical, left-wing associates like ACORN and MoveOn.org to force his ideas for our country on American citizens. Who is to say one of these people is not a teacher? It is my place to teach my children and grandchildren my values concerning my/their obligations to my country.
Did I mind when Bush was in the schools? No, he was reading a children’s book to them, not telling my grandchild that I am a right-wing terrorist, a racist or that I have swastika tattoos!
Keep politics out of public schools, but most importantly leave my grandchildren alone!
— Nancy, North Richland Hills

Nancy, you ignorant slut. Are you kidding me? You haven’t seen a copy of the speech. You have no idea what the president is going to say. You’re going off assumption, and assumption is not always fact.
“something that is believed to be true without proof”

Do your research before you start blasting the president. Bush Sr and Reagan both gave speeches directly to students via C-Span and the radio. Both of them spoke on the importance of education, staying focused, and having values. The exact same thing Obama is going to speak about. Take a look:

http://www.dailykostv.com/w/002099/

http://www.reagan.utexas.edu/archives/speeches/1988/111488c.htm

Washington Post reported it at the time: The speech at Alice Deal Junior High School, broadcast live on radio and television, urged students to study hard, avoid drugs and turn in troublemakers.

‘Hey everybody. President Bush read a book to school children. Yay!!! He’s the greatest ever! Oh wait… He just got us into a war where nothing he promised would be there was actually there. Wait! No! He’s still the greatest!!! Look at all the dirty terrorist (also known as citizens of another country who may or may not be tied to terrorist groups, but they have brown skin and read the Koran, so they must be terrorist) he’s killed. Yeah Bush!!!’

Sounds like you’ve had some issues in the past with people accusing you of being a right-winged nut and racist. Is this true Nancy? Are you both of these things? And you want to talk about people labeling people terrorist, when your beloved Bush Jr labeled anyone who had read the Koran a terrorist.

You also fail to realize that you are in the minority when it comes to parents and grandparents teaching their children values. Ya see, sadly, the majority of children these days are left to learn these things with little to no guidance. So good for you if you’ve taken an active roll in developing your grandchildren’s values, but don’t interfere with the government when they try to help develop values for those not as fortunate as you.

Nancy, there is nothing wrong with having an opinion, this is my opinion about you and just like you I have every right to express it. However, the difference between you and me is that I take time to find out the facts of something before I form my opinion about something. You on the other, like all the other idiots, listen to no one but idiots and believe whatever they tell you. You are why the right-winged reputation is growing more unpopular. You people have no clue when it comes to actually thinking for yourself.

From, "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country." — John F. Kennedy January 20, 1961
To, in essence: "What can you do for Obama?"
Yes, a whole lot has certainly changed. I’m still waiting on the hope.
— Wendell, Saginaw

Hey Wendell…Ya ever hoped that one day you won’t be stupid any more? There’s a cop in Montana that would like to speak with you. Your comment makes no sense what so ever and for that, I’m going to stab you in the gut.

Another awesome, informative, helpful study

Study: unemployed feel 'traumatized' by recession

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A new study finds that the recession has left many jobless workers struggling to cope with the psychological stress caused by becoming unemployed in a weak economy.

Researchers at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University said the financial strain that comes with being out of work combined with the sometimes daunting task of seeking new employment in a difficult job market has left many Americans "traumatized."

And in other studies published today: The sun is hot, ice is cold, and Clay Aikin in gay, and Study shows that most studies do nothing more but state the obvious.

Awww Wal Mart. Where the refined human goes to shop...

Stranger accused of slapping crying child at store

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) - Police say a 61-year-old man annoyed with a crying 2-year-old girl at a Wal-Mart slapped the child several times after warning the toddler's mother to keep her quiet.
A police report says after the stranger hit the girl at least four times, he said: "See, I told you I would shut her up."
Roger Stephens of Stone Mountain is charged with felony cruelty to children. It was unclear if he had an attorney and a telehpone call to his home Wednesday was unanswered.
Authorities say the girl and her mother were shopping Monday when the toddler began crying. The police report says Stephens approached the mother and said, "If you don't shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you."
Authorities say after Stephens slapped the girl, she began screaming.

Bank's thumbprint rule irks man born with no arms

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man born without arms says a Tampa bank would not let him cash a check because he couldn't provide a thumbprint.
Steve Valdez didn't have an account at a Bank of America location in downtown Tampa, where he tried to cash a check from his wife last week. However, Valdez has prosthetic arms and is unable to provide a thumbprint. He says he presented two forms of identification but was still denied.
He says a bank manager told him he could either come back to the bank with his wife or open an account himself.
Bank of America spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie says the bank has apologized to Valdez. Nastacie says the bank should have "offered alternative requirements if an individual is not able to give a thumbprint."

Well, ya gotta HAND it to the guy, he did find a woman to marry him regardless of his lack of arms. Wait...Where does he wear a wedding ring?

Last chapter arrives for 'Reading Rainbow' on PBS

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The "Reading Rainbow" is at an end on PBS.
The program aired its final episode Friday, wrapping a more than two-decade run that began in 1983. "Reading Rainbow," hosted by LeVar Burton, was designed to spark a love for books in its young audience.
The once-popular show's ratings had slipped and production on new episodes stopped several years ago, PBS said. Along with the end of the broadcasts, the "Reading Rainbow" site at pbskids.org will be discontinued in December.
But the program will remain available for classrooms with off-air educational rights in effect for a year, according to a PBS Web site.
PBS and member station WNED, producer of "Reading Rainbow," are in discussions to create a literacy Web site and to continue the show's local story contests for kids on a national level.

Take a look. It's in a book. It's Reading Rainbow. Awww...Those kids on the show could never really write.

Isn't it Fun!!!

Something common in my life these days just happened. I go from being in a good to great mood one minute and the next minute feeling like nothing. Imagine going 100 mph down the highway when you see a cop in the distance and you slam on the brakes to get back down to 60 mph. It’s a frustrating, angering, exhausting, depressing experience.

And just like that, I’m already disinterested in this.

Isn’t it fun?
